HIV antiretroviral therapy, also known as "cocktail therapy", originally referred to as "highly active antiretroviral therapy" (HAART), was proposed by Chinese-American scientist Daiyi He in 1996, which is a combination of three or more antiretroviral drugs used to treat AIDS. Once upon a time, with foreign cocktail therapy, the cost was very expensive, reaching 10,000 yuan/month. By 2002, through continuous improvement by AIDS medical experts, the cost was reduced to 3,000 yuan/month, and by 2009, China produced domestic drugs, which greatly reduced the cost and provided them free of charge to patients. This has led to a good popularization of the basic AIDS drug cocktail.
